Why should I be using wordpress? Well, for starters is super simple to operate, I like to brag that I taught my mother to use WordPress, if she can do it then ANYONE can.

WordPress is also easy to develop for, if you can think of it – I can (probably) build it! There is so much support and flexibility out there that it makes the perfect CMS platform.

So what is WordPress? Well its a CMS (Content Management System) that is completely open source, it is one of the most popular CMS’s on the net. WordPress started out as a blogging platform and quickly outgrew that and recently has noticed people using it for a full CMS and so has started developing further to allow more functionality in that department.

So why would you need a custom Wordpress theme built? Well the choice is yours, but have you ever gone around the internet and noticed that there are hundreds of websites that just all look generic and the same? well thats because they all use generic off the shelf themes! By building a custom theme you allow your website to become individual. Making your site stand out that little bit more. This also gives you a commited web-developer who will sit there and hold your hand, answer your questions and do those little tasks that might take you 3 hours, but someone in the know 3 min (how much is your time really worth!?)

So everyone these days know and loves google maps…

Everyone knows that you can go pick them up and place them in your site with some long code… But this is all done manually…

I’ve discovered a few little tricks recently to have dynamic Google maps present on your website.

Currently I’m working on a project, that has listings for businesses, obviously we want to have maps for those businesses, but the problem we faced initially is how do we take out the work or manually entering in the longitude and latitude for this? We’ll Google Maps API’s have a little site that will tell you, and with a little php trickery you can simply tell your website to retrieve an address and store the values all in the background.

Why go to all this trouble? Why not just send the request every time the page is loaded with the address! because Google limits your number of requests to about 1,000 a day. this sounds like a lot but for a big site could be a big problem! Storing the values means that you can have a significantly more accessible version of Google Maps on your website.

Ask me about potentially putting Google Maps into your Website!
